Sentosa is a pleasure paradise just off Singapore's main island. It is where people from Singapore, Asia and the sometimes the world go to escape, enjoy fun in the sun and take time out from the pressures of usual life. Sentosa is connected to the main island via a causeway and you can also get there via cable car. The trip in is relatively short, and to swift you to your resort or hotel, you should be catching the Express within a few minutes of arriving.

With the exception of taxis, travel around the island is for free, so you'll not have to worry about seeing all of it. But before you go exploring and discovering all the fun and festive activities which mark out this small portion of South East Asia, you'll want to take some time to appreciate your accommodations. There are quite a few options on the island, especially considering its size. Many head straight to Sentosa World Resorts which offers a variety of pleasing places to stay, including the Hard Rock Hotel.

It's worth noting, for young and young at heart, that the Worlds Resorts are home to some of the best rides and distractions in Singapore. It's here that you'll find the Universal Studios theme park as well as the island's casino which, if you want to play, has a dress code, so don't rock up in your bathing suit. The World Resorts have numerous activities for all, ranging from large outdoor pools to live shows. Pool parties are popular and the DJs mix up beats for hours of fun in the sun and often well into the late night. You'll also be able to see live performances ranging from fun shows for the whole family, to gigs in one the many bars or more intimate music venues.

Executives often come from the main island to hold meetings and play a few rounds of golf with friends and colleagues. There are two beautiful golf courses on the island and many of the best resorts and hotels offer superb conferencing and meeting facilities. In fact, quite a large number of those visiting do come to take advantage of the excellent events venues and the experienced teams of organizational staff who oversee the details of important gatherings from start to finish.

If you like to lounge around in the sun and enjoy the beach and waters sports, you'll find these not only but mainly on the seemingly endless Siloso Beach, where you can have fun on roller-blades, knock the ball over the volleyball net and take to the water to swim or paddle around in a canoe. The fit and sporty will find some hotels right on the beach. Additionally, most of these have state-of-the-art fitness facilities which are both capacious and where you'll be able to enlist the assistance of a qualified personal trainer. Spa holidays are also popular on the island, and you'll have spas with extensive facilities that range from private treatments rooms to couple treatment rooms, not to forget the full complement of steam, sauna and whirlpool options. There are other sporting and leisure facilities at different establishments, you just have to decide on which set you want. Tennis players will have their pick of quality courts, while squash players may have to look a bit harder to find facilities.

Good food, of course, is a staple of any holiday. And in whichever resort you stay you'll be spoiled for choice. All the best establishments offer something for every mood and time of day. If you're staying in a villa or cabana, why not order room service and enjoy your breakfast in the privacy of your bright spacious accommodations while you enjoy the beautiful view of the water that will tempt you in sooner or later. There are family eateries which offer a wide range of cuisines, then there are specific eateries which offer Asian delicacies, Italian gastronomy and French fine dining, to name just a few. The island has some excellent fine dining restaurants, you just have to ask your front desk to point in the direction of whichever place appeals.

Your front desk will also be able to set you on the path of adventure. Underwater World is a popular attraction. It is a vast underground oceanarium with thousands of exotic and wondrous fresh and salt water creatures. There is a so a Butterfly Park with an adjoining park which offers a chance to have a look at 3,000 or so curious and delightful insects. For those who are interested in history, visit Fort Siloso, which is where the British erected a fort in the late 19th century and later used is a strategic place of defence during the Second World War.

The Sentosa Luge and Skyride is also great fun, and safe for the younger ones. Catch the ski lift up the hill and then speed down in bobsled that's under your own control.

Business, pleasure, romance or family vacation, the hotels and resorts of Sentosa offer many choices for those with different tastes and needs. If all you want to do is lie in the sun and dance the night away, there are few better destinations to make sure your experience is a seamless meld of all life's good pleasures.
